I Became a Doctor Because I Believe Women Deserve Better

I'm Dr. Irina — a naturopathic physician specializing in fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum care. This is why I do what I do.

Where It Started

I didn't stumble into this work. I was pulled toward it.

I was in naturopathic medical school when I first watched the documentary, "The Business of Being Born". It opened my eyes to something I hadn't fully understood yet — how much the maternal healthcare system was failing women. Not out of bad intentions, but out of a model that wasn't designed to truly support them.

And then I saw it up close. Through my friends. Through my sister. Through patients who came to me after years of being told their pain was normal, their fertility was unexplained, their options were limited. Women who deserved more than a prescription and a referral.

I also saw it through the lens of research. When I came across the work of Dr. Weston A. Price — a dentist who traveled the world in the early 20th century and documented what happened to communities when they abandoned traditional, nutrient-dense diets — I saw the evidence of something I already believed in my gut: what parents eat shapes how their children build their bodies. The changes showed up within a single generation. And they were reversible.

That knowledge changed how I think about everything I do clinically. Every woman I support is not just improving her own health. She is investing in the health of her children — and the generations after them.

What I Believe

I believe that God created the body with an incredible intelligence — the capacity to heal, to grow life, to recover, to thrive. My job is not to override that intelligence. It is to remove the obstacles that are getting in its way and give the body the building blocks it needs to do what it was designed to do.

I believe that fertility is a vital sign. Not just a reproductive goal. When a woman's cycle is off, when conception is difficult, when pregnancy is exhausting — that is the body communicating. Something in the foundation needs attention.

I believe that the health of a baby begins before conception. The quality of the egg and sperm, the nutritional environment of the womb, the epigenetic signals sent during pregnancy — all of this shapes a child's health for the rest of their life. That is not a burden. It is an opportunity.

And I believe that mothers need to be supported. Not just celebrated. Supported. Because when mothers are healthy — physically, emotionally, spiritually — that strength radiates into their families, their children, their communities.

The world needs more healthy and loving families. That is my mission. And I get to work toward it every single day.

How I Practice

I think of health like building a house. You can spend all the money you want on interior design — new wallpaper, updated fixtures, beautiful finishes. But if the foundation is cracked, those cracks will keep reappearing no matter how many times you patch them.

That is what happens when we treat symptoms without asking why they showed up in the first place. In my practice, we start with the foundation — nutrition, sleep, stress, lifestyle, gut health, hormonal balance, spiritual wellbeing. These are the things that everything else depends on. And they are almost always the missing piece.

From there, we build. We use naturopathic principles, herbal medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and modern lab work to address what is unique to each woman's body and story. Not a protocol off the internet. Not a list of supplements to replace one prescription with another. A real, personalized plan — built on your real health history and your real life.

I also bring a deep respect for ancestral wisdom alongside modern nutritional science. The body is not a mystery to be managed. It is a remarkable, intelligent system — and when it is given what it needs, it responds.
